Virgin River will return for a fifth season next month but could one character in particular be getting a new love interest?
The upcoming fifth season of Netflix’s Virgin River will hit screens this September and fans are already speculating about which storylines will be covered in the new batch of episodes. For example, could one character finally find love?
One fan has taken to social media to share their thoughts on who Muriel (played by Teryl Rothery) might end up with in the new season.
Reddit user Luvdontbeshy posted: “It looks as though Cameron is going to be with Muriel so I don’t think they’ll be any conflicts with him still having feelings for Mel.”
Dr Cameron Hayek (Mark Ghanimé) arrived in town as the new doctor in season four, with him working alongside Doc Mullins (Tim Matheson) and practitioner Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge).
Even though Cameron confessed to having feelings for his co-worker Mel, this crush was quickly shut down by the nurse, given that she was expecting Jack’s (Martin Henderson) baby. So could romance be on the cards for Cameron and Muriel?
In first-look photographs from the upcoming season, the pair are pictured looking especially close. But fans will need to tune in to see exactly how everything plays out.
Earlier this month Teryl dashed hopes Muriel and Doc might still have a romantic future. Despite originally having feelings for Doc, viewers soon learned that Doc’s ex-wife Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole) was still in love with him.
And despite going on a few dates with Muriel, Doc also realised wanted to give things a second try with Hope, after not having any romantic feelings for Muriel.
Speaking in a Virgin River fan chat, Teryl revealed: “You know I think she is, I think she let that go. There’s a deep friendship. I think she’ll always be there for him.”
It looks like friendship is the only thing on the cards for Muriel and Doc going forward.
Teryl is also hopeful her character will find love. Speaking on the Chatting With B YouTube channel, Teryl stated: “I would want her to find a love interest, that poor woman Muriel is constantly searching and searching and searching.”
