Former EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison’s dog is apparently begging to take over Alison Hammond’s presenting role on ITV’s For the Love of Dogs. And yes you did read that correctly.
The This Morning star now presents the show, a development that came after Paul O Grady’s death in March 2023.
Previously, Heather Trott actress Cheryl claimed Paul wanted her to front the beloved programme.
Following the announcement of Alison’s new role, Cheryl took to Instagram to discuss how she believes Paul ‘would’ve definitely given’ her ‘his blessing to do that job’.

In a chat guaranteed to get tails wagging (sorry), she said: ‘You know, I can turn my hand to most things, I’m not begging for a job. I’m just telling you I’m perfect for a lot of jobs but you guys are not putting me up for them, letting me go for them, and I don’t know why. I say good luck to Alison Hammond for getting For The Love Of Dogs.
‘But I’m telling you now, Paul O’Grady would’ve definitely given me his blessing to do that job because I have a dog, we’ve discussed our dogs quite a lot and I’ve always had dogs in my life, and erm yeah, dogs are the best, it’s that simple.’

Now, taking X, Cheryl is back on the FTLOD hype by claiming her little pooch Rosie wants to work alongside the dogs at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.
Sharing a selfie alongside the dog, Cheryl wrote: ‘Woof woof waggy tail Rosie asks is there a job going for her mummy @itv @itvFLOD 🐶’.
As far as talented dogs are concerned, having Cheryl’s beloved pet wait in the wings to present an ITV show would certainly be a first.
