Former EastEnders star Tony Discipline has joined the cast of Doctors.
The actor played the role of Tyler Moon in the BBC One soap from 2011-2013.
Described as a ‘cheeky chappy’, Tyler was related to Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) and Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd). He worked with his father in the local antiques/junk shop, and was often seen hanging out with his beloved brother Anthony (Matt Lapinskas).
After his relationship with Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) broke down, Tyler left Walford in the summer of 2013 to join his brother on a cruise ship.
Following his departure from the BBC One soap, Tony went on to begin a career as a firefighter. He also worked shifts as a barman.
Now, 11 years on from his exit, Tony is returning to screens and will soon appear in Doctors.
Tony will portray David Marsden, who is looking for his wife Luella.
When Tony and Luella arrive at The Mill, it becomes apparent they are also going through a marital crisis.
Can they work through it with help from the surgery staff?
We know of course 2024 marks the final year for Doctors, as the show has been axed by the BBC.
Discussing the sad decision to end the programme, a BBC spokesperson said: ‘We have taken the very difficult decision to bring daytime drama Doctors to an end after 23 years.
‘With super inflation in drama production, the cost of the programme has increased significantly, and further investment is also now required to refurbish the site where the show is made, or to relocate it to another home.
