If Mel and Jack remain the flagship couple of Virgin River, this season 5 of the Netflix romantic series features an unexpected rapprochement between two protagonists.
Since September 7, Virgin River fans have been treated to new season 5 on Netflix, ten episodes which contain their share of drama, laughter, emotion and relaxation. Viewers will of course find Mel and Jack, the flagship couple of the romantic series, played by Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson. But many secondary characters still revolve around them and, for several of them, it is also a question of romance. In Virgin River, hearts beat at any age, this is one of the successes of the series. If young Lizzie and Kai don’t let illness get in the way of their feelings, Doc and Hope prove that senior romance shouldn’t be a taboo in fiction. But this fifth season also introduces a more surprising rapprochement between two of the characters, between whom there is also a question of age.
Muriel and Cameron, the unexpected couple from season 5 of Virgin River
While Brie’s heart is caught between two fires and Preacher finds an unexpected flame with the arrival of a pretty firefighter in town, the writers decided to address the age difference by bringing Muriel and…Cameron together! If Doctor Cameron Hayek (Mark Ghanimé) was, at first glance, seduced by Mel, when he arrived in the series and at the clinic the previous season, he quickly forgets the beautiful nurse to turn his attention to the one who has become a valuable help for Doc and him. Muriel indeed offered her services to the clinic and she quickly made herself indispensable. But she certainly didn’t expect to find love at her workplace either.
What future for Muriel and Cameron in Virgin River?
Doctor Cameron had left no one indifferent when he arrived in town; it seems that it is ultimately Muriel who has his favors. Although their age difference and the fact that they work together initially convinced them to try to suppress their feelings, they ultimately decided to give their relationship a chance. A somewhat unlikely couple at first glance, and described as “deliciously shocking” by actor Martin Henderson (Jack). All the more surprising when we know that Cameron had fallen directly for Mel, but which turns out to be touching because both seem sincere. Especially since they have in common the fear of being burned out in love again, because of their past stories. And Muriel, who was once one of the horrifying characters in the series, having changed a lot since previous seasons, she deserves to be happy too.
