VIRGIN RIVER fans have finally got their hands on the first details for season four, which seems to set up Jack Sheridan’s Marine buddy Preacher for a crushing loss.
The highly anticipated new season of Virgin River is finally due to arrive near the start of next month. As Netflix subscribers prepare for another summer of small town romance and complicated family drama, some intriguing plot details may have revealed what’s next for John ‘Preacher’ Middleton (played by Colin Lawrence).
The fan favourite chef of Virgin River’s best drinking spot, Preacher, could be in for an emotional ride in the Netflix drama’s upcoming third season.
Alexandra Breckenridge and the rest of the cast recently took to Instagram to reveal to fans that the next ten episodes will be arriving Friday, July 9.
Season three will pick up right where last year’s outing left off, with Mel Monroe (Breckenridge) reeling after discovering Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) shot in the back of his bar.
Meanwhile, Preacher could be in for another shock after his new girlfriend Paige Lassiter (Lexa Doig) accidentally killed her abusive ex-husband, Wes (Steve Bacic).
Fans of the show were sent into a frenzy when the first details of the new season were released by Deadline.
They confirmed the highlights of the upcoming episodes include ‘a funeral, a fire, a divorce, a hurricane, and a new romance.’
While Colin Lawrence will definitely be part of the next season of Virgin River, Lexa Doig’s name was conspicuously absent from the list of returning stars.
After the first hints for season three emerged, one eager viewer ran their theories for season three by the rest of the fanbase in a recent speculation thread on Reddit.
The original poster speculated: “Someone mentioned Paige. Hopefully not Doc but we still don’t know what he was going to tell Hope.”
They then added: “New Romance: Hopefully Charmaine with anyone else so she can f**k off for good.
“Maybe a new romance for Preacher if Paige doesn’t return.”
Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) threw a wrench in Jack and Mel’s burgeoning romance by claiming her twins were actually Jack’s.
However, while fans are keen for Jack’s ex-friend with benefits to be paired up with someone else, the new clue suggests Preacher could have something new on the horizon.
Over in another thread, a second Redditor also showed their concern for Doig’s absence in the confirmed cast listing.
They speculated: “I’m thinking the funeral will probably be Paige’s because Lexa Doig wasn’t listed as part of the cast in the press release.
“She also wasn’t in the video announcement with the rest of the main/recurring cast and she hasn’t promoted the show at all on social media.”
As a supporting character, this doesn’t necessarily mean Paige won’t turn up in season three, though the signs aren’t looking good so far.
Virgin River season three will also include a number of new additions, including Jack’s sister Brie (Zibby Allen).
