VIRGIN RIVER viewers are patiently waiting for the return of the hit Netflix series and fans were delighted when a July 9 release date was announced for its third season. However, one thing audiences can’t stop speculating is whether or not Jack is the real father of Charmaine’s twins.

Bar owner Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson) and Charmaine Roberts’ (Lauren Hammersley) relationship has been contentious to say the least, but viewers have their doubts of her twins’ true parentage. Ahead of the season three arrival, fans have taken to Reddit to discuss whether Jack will be betrayed by a friend after it is exposed that he is not the real father to her twins. How will the bar owner cope if it turns out to be true?

In the second season of the romantic drama series, Jack and nurse practitioner Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) finally begin a relationship.

However, things became increasingly complicated for them both when his ex-girlfriend Charmaine announced she was pregnant with twins.

After Charmaine was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, Mel volunteered to help her through it.

Though it was clear that the two wouldn’t become friends any time soon, and Mel found it hard to be around her pregnancy.

However, there has been much speculation amongst fans as to whether Jack is the real father of Charmaine’s twins.

As Charmaine is not the most trustworthy or popular character in the series, most viewers believe that Jack will be betrayed in season three when he discovers he is not the father.

So, who is the biological father of the twins, and will we find out in season three?

Fans have since taken to Reddit to discuss their latest theory around the babies.

After discussions began on Reddit about predictions for season three, one viewer commented: “My predictions… Jack is not the father of Charmaine’s babies.

“I think Jack’s cop buddy friend, Mike is the father based on his extreme reaction to the news of the pregnancy.

“I think Jack’s sister will force a paternity test, revealing the truth and treachery,” they continued.

“Charmaine gave Hope the package of Jack’s things and left her letter unsealed because she knew Hope would read and meddle.”

The Reddit user continued with their predictions about Jack and Charmaine: “She also banked on Jack doing the right thing to stand by the kids, giving her last ditch chance to win him back.

“Charmaine is extremely manipulative and desperate. She played her final card at the end saying the ‘man she married’ would be the father and ‘we’ll just see how you fit in,’ knowing it would gut him.”

Charmaine has struggled with her relationship in the past as she never knew where she stood in terms of Jack’s affections.

Has she lied to him all this time because she is afraid she will lose Jack when he discovers the truth?

Mike Valenzuela (Marco Grazzini) is an LAPD officer and a fellow army buddy of Jack’s.

The two have been close friends for years so, if it is discovered that Mike is the father of the twins or even that he once had a brief fling with Charmaine, the betrayal will surely break Jack’s heart.

Mike’s reaction to the pregnancy was definitely a cause for concern as it does appear that he is more invested in Charmaine’s twins than the average guy.

The Netflix hit will certainly have plenty of mysteries to unravel in season three.
