INTRO VIRGIN RIVER season 3 is on the way and fans are keen to know whether Jack really is the father of Charmaine’s twins. Or, is Brady the father of Charmaine’s babies?
Virgin River season three will be airing on Netflix soon and Charmaine (played by Lauren Hammersley) is due to give birth to her twins. She was adamant the babies belonged to her former boyfriend, Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), but fans believe she may have been tricking him. One theory is that the babies belong to Jack’s friend Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) following a night together.
Is Brady the father of Charmaine’s babies?
The second season of Virgin River was full of surprises, with Charmaine’s pregnancy being one of the main focus points.
Shortly after Jack had confessed his love for the new nurse, Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), Charmaine wrote him a letter telling him about the pregnancy.
Jack was shocked, but vowed to support Charmaine and the babies, and he went along with her to her appointments.
Mel revealed she was having twins, and said there may be some complications at the time of the birth.
Still, Charmaine was excited to be sharing such a special experience with Jack, and she was keen for him to be involved.
Yet as Jack’s feelings for Mel grew stronger, Charmaine had planned to leave Virgin River and move away with the babies.
Some fans have suggested the babies do not belong to Jack, and Charmaine was just using it as a reason to get him to stay with her.
They have taken to Reddit to discuss the situation, and many believe the babies belong to Jack’s troubled friend, Brady.
BrightBlueKicks said: “I don’t think the babies are Jack’s. Almost everything time there is a scene with Charmaine discussing her pregnancy, the immediate following scene is of Brady.
“Now, it’s been a long time since I took a film class, but I remember learning that this is often a thing show creators will do to subtly allude to something the viewers haven’t seen yet on screen/don’t know yet.
“Plus, this seems like the most logical way out of this situation in order for Mel and Jack to truly be together.
“I know that Charmaine losing the babies also seems possible with the mention of “high-risk pregnancy”, but to me, losing the twins just seems too obvious, redundant, and unnecessary to the storyline.”
Charmaine is still jealous of Mel for ‘stealing’ Jack away from her, and she may have experienced a moment of poor judgement.
The fan added: “And who better to sleep with than Brady? Especially since he is also mad/resentful towards Jack …he would certainly go along with it.
“And he’s always seemed to want what Jack has, so all the more reason to sleep with Charmaine.”
Brady and Charmaine were at the same party, which would have been the perfect opportunity for them to spend the night together.
Brady was already drunk, and Charmaine had been left reeling after Jack dismissed her.
Charmaine may be convincing herself the babies are Jacks, but she could also be aware of the chance of the twins being Brady’s.
Another fan said: “I agree with your theory! I had a weird feeling throughout the season that the babies aren’t Jack’s. I also thought possibly Brady, but couldn’t really put a finger on it.”
Brady’s redemption arc started at the end of the second season, when he spared Spencer’s (Chad Rook) life instead of killing him.
Some viewers hope the babies do belong to Brady, as it would give him the opportunity to further redeem himself.
Yooperthreds said: “They showed a little glimpse of humanity and redemption with him when he saved Spencer’s life. It would be cool to see him turn into a good dad.”
Season three could see Charmaine go through a paternity test, if the question over who the father really is comes to light.
Both Brady and Charmaine became part of the main cast in the second season, so there is plenty of scope for their own story to be told in season three.
