Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) feels the heat from his neighbours as his job leaves an iconic Walford location under threat in EastEnders next week.
Several locals are left fearing for their livelihoods when it is revealed the Bridge Street Market and Square Gardens are at risk of redevelopment.
Longstanding fruit and veg trader Martin Fowler (James Bye) is floored when he hears the news from market inspector Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) in forthcoming scenes.
They quickly arrange a crisis meeting in The Vic along with Honey’s husband Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) and the other market traders to discuss the potential abolishment.
Council bod Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) is summoned to The Vic to reveal what Walford council have planned to replace it – and it devastates the traders.
But things soon escalate when they then learn that Junior has been given the prospective contract for the redevelopment.
Will he think twice about taking on the tender and incurring the wrath of the locals?
Ian is also likely to take some heat from Martin and the rest of his family over the council’s plans too, as fans will know he has a longstanding history with the market, as his father Pete Beale (Peter Dean) originally ran the fruit and veg stall, before his cousin Martin Fowler (Todd Carty) took over.
