EastEnders star Shane Richie has teased this year’s festive storylines in the BBC One soap, and we’re feeling worried.
The Christmas period is always dramatic in Walford. Last year, The Six took centre stage on Christmas Day, covering Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) murder after Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) stabbed him.
This year, with no flash-forward, we don’t really know much about what’s ahead through the Winter. Thankfully though, Shane Richie is on hand to help us out.
The star, best known for his role as Alfie Moon in the show, confirmed the cast are currently wrapping up ‘filming Christmas Day’.
‘A few things happened on Christmas, which I intentionally didn’t read [the script] because I knew that Kat and Alfie were going to be involved, and I didn’t really want to know what was going to happen in the Queen Vic on Christmas Day. But oh my God!’, he said in a chat with Radio Times.
‘I sat there watching this story unfolding in the Queen Vic that happens on Christmas Day, and as a fan of the show anyway, I was like, “Oh my God I can’t believe this! Stop!”. I had to do a line and I kept messing it up because I was so taken in with that the storyline that was happening.’
‘You’re in for a lovely treat this Christmas Day.’
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Shane didn’t say much about Christmas, but did use the words ‘deceit, tragic and sad’, when asked to sum the events up.
How intriguing!
This development has left us feeling even more concerned for Linda, a character fans are worried will be killed off after cast were pictured filming a funeral – and Kellie Bright was nowhere to be seen.
Actors Maddy Hill and Danny Hatchard appear to be reprising their roles as Nancy and Lee Carter as they attend a funeral. Also in attendance at the funeral are Johnny Carter and Elaine Peacock (Charlie Suff and Harriet Thorpe).
With Nancy wearing flamingo earrings in pictures published by The Sun – a staple of Linda’s wardrobe – audience members of the soap are concerned that the beloved landlady may be set to die, with the family attending her funeral.
