Adam Woodyatt has portrayed Ian Beale in BBC’s EastEnders since the programme began in 1985, cementing himself as a soap legend in the process. Just a teenager when he was cast in the soap, Adam has grown up on TV, with fans watching him change over the years.
The 55 year old has undergone a big transformation over recent years, having shed an impressive three stone after overhauling his lifestyle. His trim figure hasn’t gone unnoticed by soap fans, with Ian’s changing appearance having become a point of discussion in the past.
Adam previously gave an insight into how he managed to shed the pounds. He put his body transformation down to just one habit change.

He revealed he quit drinking alcohol, which, combined with his love of cycling, helped him to lose weight. Adam admitted it was easier to cycle the lighter he got, therefore keeping fit was an easy task.
Adam previously told The Mirror: “Basically I gave up alcohol. That was the biggest change I made. With giving up alcohol, the weight drops off and because the weight dropped it was easier to cycle. So it was easier to stay fit.”
“That’s all it was. I’m just not really focused on it,” Adam said. “I’ve not really made a big fuss about it. I just stopped drinking.”

He admitted giving up alcohol was the “right thing to do” for him, but noted that he won’t declare he’s “never” going to have a drink again. Adam added: “But at this point in my life, I’m quite happy not drinking. And the result is I’ve lost about three stone in weight.”
Adam’s weight loss caused issues online however, as his transformation photos were falsely used in a weight loss advert last year. He previously had to warn fans to “please be careful” on social media after spotting the advert.
