Rash is still struggling in the aftermath of his dad’s death, so will having his cousin around be a comfort, or an annoyance? Casualty newcomer Manpreet Bachu reveals more about his character…

Hi Manpreet! Tell us about Tariq…

He’s Rash’s cousin, but they’re complete opposites. Tariq is very cheeky and charming, and the first person you’d go to if you wanted a party! But he’s a bit of a loose cannon as well, he’s very good at what he does, but he’ll cut corners if it helps him get to where he wants to quicker.

How does Rash feel about having his cousin on his turf at work?

The moment Tariq walks into the ED and starts to interrogate him, Rash realises it’s a bit of a problem! It’s almost as though Rash is being forgotten about because his cool cousin is there. So the frustration and the friction starts again.

What makes Tariq decide to stick around in Holby?

He loves the buzz and the challenge of working in the ED. He genuinely loves what he does, but then he also has the chance to rekindle his relationship with his cousin. It’s a win-win for Tariq.
