Former EastEnders star amazes fans and sings with gospel choir

EastEnders actor Shona McGarty is grasping life outside Albert Square with both hands, as she amazes fans with her gospel singing via Instagram.

The 32-year-old emotionally made her exit from the BBC soap recently, after playing Whitney, Dean, the adoptive daughter of Patsy Palmer’s Bianca Jackson, since 2008.

Shona’s angelic voice is no secret to fans, as she’s previously posted her ‘second’ career as a soprano in a gospel choir called UpMass.

As well as this, the former EastEnders star posts an array of videos on TikTok and Instagram, showing off her amazing vocal skills.

In her latest video, the actress stunned audiences and fans as she put on a show stopping performance in a white jumpsuit.

“Goosebumps,” commented a third. A fourth wrote: “That’s a powerful song Shona, the anointing makes the difference in my life. Well done.”

Shona’s final episode aired on May 23, as she emotionally left Walford via bus. However, at the time, the star emotionally revealed that she wouldn’t be watching her final scenes when they aired.

The star is currently busy rehearsing for her role in 2:22 A Ghost Story this summer, and told her Instagram followers she was going to wait until the weekend, so she could watch the final scenes with her partner David and the rest of her family.

“It’s going to be really emotional, and I just want to say thank you for everything,” she said, holding back the tears.

“Sorry about that. Got a bit emotional, which is only natural. I mean, I’ve been there for 16 years,” she said as she cut out the video.

“But thank you so much for everything. 16 years is a long time. It’s been a tough old paper round. I’ve loved every single minute of it,” she said before teasing that Whitney ‘could come back’ one day.

Throughout the years, Whitney has been involved in countless central storylines, and finally, decided to start a new life with daughters Dolly Dean-Hudson and Britney Wainwright (Lola Campbell).

It was a last minute plan for the character, who had found out in the middle of her wedding ceremony to Zack Hudson’s (James Farrar) that he had slept with her best friend Lauren Branning, played by Jacqueline Jossa.
