John F. Kennedy's only grandson Jack Schlossberg, 25, made his acting debut on the CBS crime drama Blue Bloods on Friday night

Jack Schlossberg, 25, played a small role with one line and about 10 seconds of screen time as Officer Jack Hammer in the season eight finale of Blue Bloods.

On the night of his acting debut the 25-year-old posted a photo on set to Instagram with the caption: ‘I don’t make the rules, I just pretend to enforce them — Cash me tonight on season 8 finale of Blue Bloods my dream come true!! Best show in the entire world.’ Jack is the sole grandson of the late 35th president, who was assassinated in 1963, around three decades before the 25-year-old was born.

His parents are Caroline Bouvier Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg, who have two other children, daughters Rose and Tatiana, 29 and 28, respectively.

While Jack’s older sister Rose already made her way into the acting world, its unclear if he will follow in her footsteps.

In a May 2017 interview the Harvard Law student indicated that he might be interested in a career in politics, like his grandfather.
‘I’m inspired by my family’s legacy of public service. It’s something that I’m very proud of,’ Jack said during his first TV interview on Today.

‘But I’m still trying to make my own way and figure things out. So stay tuned – I don’t know what I’m going to do.’
Last year Jack had the honor of introducing former President Barack Obama at the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation’s dinner gala, where Obama was honored with the Profile in Courage Award.

In his introduction Jack likened Obama’s legacy to that of his grandfather’s.

‘Throughout his presidency, my grandfather made it clear that he alone could fix nothing; that he alone had no answers,’ he said.

‘He had the courage to plainly admit America’s concerns, to then lay out bold plans to address those problems and to ask his fellow for help in solving them.

‘He inspired a generation to enter public service and to ask what they could do for their country.’

‘President Barack Obama inspired me in the same way.

‘My life changed in 2008 because a young candidate was fired up and ready to go, and he told me: “Yes we can.”‘
