VIRGIN RIVER fans think Mel Monroe will discover she’s pregnant as soon as she leaves town for a new job at the end of season three.
Virgin River is set to return with season three next month and Netflix has teased death, a fire, custody arguments, breakups and more. One thing fans are eager to surmise is the cliffhanger ending and something Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) will discover she is pregnant with Jack Sheridan’s (Martin Henderson) baby just as she prepares to leave for a new job in another city.
Season one of the popular show saw Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) throw a plot twist revealing she’s pregnant.
The second season ended with Jack being shot and bleeding out on the bar floor as Mel frantically tried to stop him from dying.
So how will the third season conclude? Taking to Reddit, a Virgin River fan titled a post: “What will be Season 3 cliffhanger?”
They wrote: “It’s pretty obvious it will end in one big cliffhanger, as always.
“Based on whatever, your intuition, the books, obviously we haven’t seen the season, but I do have a pretty clear idea.”
Someone suggested: “Mel pregnant or a proposal from Jack? Or both.”
Another thought: “Mel gets a job offer in LA, is considering taking it, which leads to a big fight with Jack, but as she’s getting ready to leave she realizes she’s pregnant.”
And one replied to this with: “Felt like I read a spoiler despite knowing I wasn’t. It’s the cliffhanger we need,” while someone else said: “Love this theory!”
“Oh gosh. Please don’t let anything happen to Jack or Mel! I can’t deal,” a fan wrote.
One other mentioned: “Something to do with the babies… or doc being sick…”
The official trailer for season three gives some clues as to the theory Mel gets pregnant.
In one scene, Mel is asked by Lilly (Lynda Boyd) whether she would consider trying to a family again, considering the heartache she endured when her and her husband’s baby was stillborn.
This sparks some thought in Mel and she then takes the opportunity to ask Jack: “What do you feel about me having a baby?”
But he is clearly hesitant about the idea considering Charmaine is carrying two children of his already.
Jack tells Mel: “I can’t be the person who stands in the way of you becoming a mother – I know what you want I don’t know if I can give it to you!”
The final scene from the two-minute clip shows Mel left with her own thoughts after Jack leaves her cabin.
Does this suggest he doesn’t want a child with Mel and in turn, she feels unable to stay in Virgin River?
Fans have been hoping Mel and Jack get a happy-ever-after ever since they crossed paths in the very first season, perhaps Mel does get pregnant, by accident just as she is preparing to leave for a new position elsewhere?
Virgin River is based on the best-selling novels by Robyn Carr.
