The following article contains spoilers from an episode of EastEnders that hasn’t aired on BBC One yet, but is available to view on BBC iPlayer.
Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and Junior Knight’s (Micah Balfour) affair has finally been discovered in EastEnders – by the one and only David Wicks (Michael French).
David returned to Walford at the end of last week to see daughter Bianca (Patsy Palmer). She has been struggling with her mental health for months now, so friend Kat (Jessie Wallace)
called David, hoping he’d be able to help.
Returning to his old home after so many years was never going to be an easy task, but David certainly didn’t expect to bump into two residents who were presumed to be dead the last time he was in Albert Square.
One of them was his ex Cindy. Yesterday, David was surprised to discover Cindy and Ian (Adam Woodyatt) were still together, and realised he had an awful lot to catch up on when the Knights were mentioned.
In tonight’s episode, David thought he’d kill two birds with one stone by talking to Bianca, but also attempt to get close to Cindy again. He instructed his daughter to meet him for lunch at Beale’s Eels, where Cindy was working.
As they sat down, Bianca opened up about her mental health and said she might have ADHD, or depression. She still seemed adamant that how she had been feeling was a ‘blip’, so David continued to remind her of the importance of speaking to a doctor and getting help.
While this was going on, Ian was growing increasingly annoyed at David’s presence. Feeling somewhat paranoid, Ian told Cindy to kiss him, unaware David wasn’t the problem – the man stood behind Cindy was.
Junior had entered the restaurant looking for Cindy, who hadn’t been in contact as much following her engagement.
That evening though, she quickly reverted back to her old ways.
Ian and Cindy were holding their engagement party in the pub and said everybody was welcome. While the event was starting, David was saying an emotional farewell to Bianca after revealing he needed to leave for business matters.
Bianca had told her dad she’d get help for her mental health, and couldn’t help shed a few tears when she watched her father leave again.
As he wandered through the Square, David decided to head into the pub for a drink before he left.
He ended up confronting Junior after learning he had slept with Bianca when he first arrived. David accused Junior of taking advantage of his daughter, and they ended up fighting when Junior made a comment about Bianca being desperate.
Down the side of the pub, Cindy found Junior. He – surprisingly – spoke about the prospect of turning their affair into something more, but Cindy reckoned a stable relationship wasn’t quite Junior’s forte.
Perfectly timed, Junior and Cindy started kissing just as David left the pub. He overheard the noise, took a few steps backwards, and found his ex betraying his sibling.
Oh dear.
Looks like David isn’t leaving Albert Square just yet.
